It’s a beautiful story—one that makes me reflect on why Miracle became our beloved boxer puppy. You may wonder why she carries such a powerful name. The paragraphs below will explain why Miracle is who she is and how she came to be.
Her father was Coração, and her mother is Luna. In November of 2022, Coração and Luna mated for the last time. To our surprise, Luna became pregnant.
On January 16th, I went to check on Coração in his bed. He had thrown up his dinner, lunch—everything in his stomach. He was ten years old, and at that moment, I knew something was wrong.
I rushed him to the vet. The diagnosis was devastating—cancer had spread all over his body. Nothing could be done. My family and I, alongside the vets, made the heartbreaking decision to let him go, and on January 18th, Coração passed away, leaving our hearts shattered.

Luna was carrying his last litter, and my heart told me to keep one puppy—especially if one looked like him. Before burying Coração in our yard, I let Luna smell him, allowing her to say goodbye. I don’t know if it helped, but deep down, I hoped it would ease her search for him.

On January 28th, Luna went into labor around 11:00 PM. We were eager to meet the puppies, but something was wrong—she wasn’t having contractions. The first puppy was stillborn. Then the second. At 6:00 AM, we rushed to the vet.
The vet examined her and said she was in great shape, but still, no contractions. They told us to go home and wait.
Hours passed in painful silence. Then, the vet called. The ultrasound showed no heartbeats. They estimated two puppies were still inside her, but there was no sign of life. My heart sank. I was devastated, but at least Luna was okay.
Then, around 5:00 PM, my phone rang again.
“Mauricio…” The vet hesitated. Then, in a voice filled with disbelief, he said, “There’s one alive. There’s one puppy alive.”
Through the phone, I could hear her tiny cries, hear her latching on… Tears streamed down my face.
That’s a miracle. That is Miracle.

But it was not easy, she was a puppy that almost die and the reason that she is alive is, probably God and my mom which was on top of her 24/7, making sure that she was eating and growing.
Today, she is two years old, and her personality? Well, we’re still trying to manage it—LOL. She is stubborn. She doesn’t always listen. She jumps on everything and drives my four-year-old daughter crazy. But we love her.
She also once jumped out of my moving truck and nearly lost her legs. (Thankfully, nothing happened!) But if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that she is living proof that God has a plan for all His creatures. And we’re grateful that she’s part of ours.
Oh, and by the way—Tango is her older sister. Same parents, different litters, they get along, and fight as ALL siblings does.
